Chandler Monitoring Systems, Inc. has been pleased to provide Sandia National Laboratories with Design and Consultation Services to determine design and build for a prototype optical and analogue Control Panel for wind turbines. The control panel houses analogue equipment built by National Instruments and optical interrogators built by Micron Optics, lightening protection system, cable fitting inlets, cooling control scheme and other associated components. Under this effort, CMS has utilized our valuable staff knowledge and experience to design a custom control the panel for fitting to a mounting plate within the nose cone of a wind turbine. Additionally, CMS has developed a wiring diagram and mechanical diagram of the entire control panel system. As systems integrators, we are pleased to find, once again, that a variety of instruments and gauges can be utilized to provide a well-rounded view for a unique application that paves the way for the future of health monitoring on wind turbines.
